FrameReceipt

A receipt for a photograph: what was captured, when it was received, and whether it has changed since.

When a photo is taken with FrameReceipt, its fingerprint is registered the moment it is taken, the original is archived where nobody can alter it, and a public authority stamps the time. Every record has a page anyone can open, and a mark that can be put on the copy that travels.

The app is on its way. Records made so far can already be checked below.

What a record proves

  1. The server received a file with exactly this fingerprint at the recorded time, and holds it unchanged.
  2. An independent time stamp authority signed that fingerprint; their clock, not ours.
  3. The archived bytes are locked; deletion by the owner destroys the key, never the record.

A record does not claim what the scene was, or that a camera produced the file, unless the page says so under "Camera origin". What the labels mean.
